TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: RockHounds' offense scores early, often in victory

SAN ANTONIO Miles Head went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning as the Midland RockHounds defeated the San Antonio Missions 10-0 in a Texas League baseball game Friday at Wolff Stadium.

The RockHounds (8-11 Texas League second half) won their second straight game and tallied 11 hits against San Antonio (13-7).

Midland?s Michael Choice got the offense going in the top of the first inning, hitting a single to center field that scored teammate Tyler Ladendorf from second base and gave his team a lead it never relinquished.

Choice ended the day going 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three RBIs.

RockHounds pitcher Sonny Gray, the Oakland Athletics? first-round pick last year, pitched 5.1 innings, struck out six, walked four and gave up four hits. He improved his record to 3-7 and decreased his ERA to 4.72.

The RockHounds are scheduled to continue their road trip against the Missions at 7:05 tonight.
