Job Summary: The Public Relations Manager uses journalism experience with a combined knowledge of legal and media industries to develop topic ideas for new, relevant story pitches. He or she also leverages contacts at key publications to pitch these stories to be published as MLA-bylined articles. The Public Relations Manager is involved with the creation of each article at whatever level the recruiter(s) is comfortable with ? from ghost-writing the entire piece to serving as a consultant to the recruiters that take on the writing responsibilities. He or she also uses exceptional writing skills for creating white papers, case studies, press releases, and any other content generation needs of the company, including ?In the News? web postings, which are e-summaries of third-party articles that quote MLA recruiters.

The Public Relations Manager also acts as MLA?s in-house subject matter expert on any issue relating to public/media relations. He or she helps to facilitate interviews, webinars, speaking engagements and other PR opportunities for our recruiters. The PR Manager also builds and maintains key relationships with media contacts.

Finally, the Public Relations Manager manages content for the MLA newsletter program. He or she selects the most appropriate content to be included based on the target audience, readership and program analytics. He or she works closely with the Online Marketing Manager to combine best practices from publishing and direct marketing to ensure the newsletters are providing premium value to our subscribers.

Essential Functions: ? Serve as the primary SME for developing and executing the PR strategy for MLA and IEL o Assess current efforts, implement best practices for PR and media relations o Manage relationships with MLA newsletter coordinators and Online Marketing Manager to facilitate efficient content selection and proofreading o Introduce more integration with PR, social media and MLA event strategies ? Work with the Director of Marketing and other team members to assess PR training and policy needs for MLA/IEL ? Develop PR strategy for social media and work with Online Marketing Manager to make sure we are fully leveraging these channels and aligning with SEO, web 2.0 best practices ? Work with Online Marketing Manager to repurpose long form content (such as articles written for traditional publications) for other uses, such as blogs, speaking engagements, etc. ? Work with Online Marketing Manager to ensure third-party article summaries that quote MLA recruiters leverage keyword optimization and other SEO best practices ? Identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities over time. ? Serve as the liaison between the business and technology teams (Allegis IS, external vendors, etc.) for analysis of business needs and assisting in identifying process improvements and new technologies. ? Support implementation of new initiatives as well as the maintenance and improvement of existing initiatives. ? Develop social media/online taskforce/super user group among MLA/IEL recruiters. Lead the ongoing engagement of the Super User group to strategic content generation, buzz marketing initiatives, etc ? Other responsibilities as necessary
