You may want to carve hi speed arcing turns down Aztec on Aspen Mountain or on Thunderbowl on Aspen Highlands. Aztec is part of the World Cup circuit you know. Maybe your in the mood for some bump skiing, it is what Aspen is famous for after all, well we have bump skis too! Lets say your heading out to Snowmass Mountain for the day, well with all the variety of terrain Snowmass has to offer you are going to want to rent an All-Mountain ski for the day. Start with some hi speed runs down Big Burn to warm up then head into the steeps on The Wall for some extreme skiing. Then it finally dumps, well you are going to want to grab some powder boards and head up to Highlands Bowl, some of the best terrain in the country and the hike keeps the fluffy stuff untracked.
Maybe youre the adventurous type, well we have skis in our shop for you too. Aspen is legendary for its side country terrain, take the lift up and head out the gates for some laps on Little Annies or other remarkable backcountry terrain. If you are not an experienced backcountry traveler with avalanche education Stapleton recommends hiring a local guide service to show you around and check conditions. Even if you are experienced you will get more runs in and be safer doing it!
It could be time for you to try a Rockered ski too. What is Rocker? There are three main types of ski / snowboard profile: camber, rocker, and flat. Many modern shapes use a combination of more than one of these. Rocker (also called reverse-camber) is just as it sounds camber turned upside down. All skis and snowboards, rockered or cambered, when put on edge and weighted in a turn achieve reverse-camber. Rocker skis and snowboards offer superior float in the soft snow and increased ease of turn initiation with less chance of "catching" an edge. As skis in general get wider, rocker helps keep the new shapes maneuverable for a wider range of skiers.
