Assistant Professor of Mass Communication
RESPONSIBILITIES: FT, TT appointment whose primary responsibility is teaching a combination of courses in new media journalism, visual communication, and mass communication fundamental classes. Duties include teaching multi-media reporting, mass media: impact and history, photojournalism, news reporting and writing, software applications, and editing/design. Standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Additional responsibilities include scholarship, service to the university and department, academic advising and student media organization advising.
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in Journalism, Mass Communication or related field. University-level teaching experience and strong professional background in media and communication preferred. CMU is particularly interested in candidates with experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have a demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits package.
